Hi! I'm
Belinda Vicars
I teach American Sign Language for several different university, high
school, and independent study programs.
ASLU is the online curriculum I use as the "textbook" for my various
classes. Other teachers throughout the world are welcome to use these
lessons in their own classes. These lessons are also available to the
general public online via my website: Lifeprint.com.
I'll be partnering with your local instructors to offer you Level 1 ASL. This page is your homeroom for the
course.
Checklist:
Bookmark this page so you can find it later.
Visit and read your syllabus: ►Syllabus◄
Add my address to your address list.
Note
I also have on-campus students and teach for quite a few different programs, so it is important that you identify which
program you are in when you correspond with me. The subject line of your
email should
include: "The name of program, your name, and the topic of email."
For example:
"Ponder: Jane Doe, Quiz 16"
"Ponder: Mike Smith, REPLY REQUESTED."
Take the quizzes at the link that I provide.
Complete a 500 word
research paper
Take the receptive final
Submit your expressive final (video project)
Dear Student,
Please read your syllabus and ask questions until you understand what it will take to get the grade you want out of
this course.
If you note any conflicting information or information that needs updating...do let me know. I'm always tinkering with
the website.
A few notes: When you email me it is best to put in the subject line: Sheboygan "first and last name" "the topic of your
email"
-- That helps me stay organized and track your progress.
Don't worry about whether or not I've gotten a specific quiz...just keep backups so that when you get done with the
course you have a file/folder with all 15 quizzes, your receptive
final answers, your research paper, and your video project.
Feel free to email me any time for any reason. If you do not hear back from me within a reasonably short period of
time, resend your email.
(I get a rather large number of emails from readers of my website.) Understand that I am not bothered at all
whatsoever by my registered students sending me as many emails as they would like or need in order to succeed in their
studies.
If you are studying from home, it would be best if you do a complete update of your operating system. If you are using
Windows, you can update your Media Player and update your Internet Explorer by using an automatic update process. You
can do this by going to Internet Explorer> Tools> Windows Update...and use the update function to make sure you have
all the latest service packs and patches.
Another method is to go to:http://update.microsoft.com
